Monday 3rd August - bike ***** - Two Rivers Deben to the Orwell including
lunch at Falkenham Church – sunny periods the showers.
With the wind in the NW, dead offshore I didn’t have to worry about
windsurfing so did my exercises in the sunny back garden after breakfast.
Then Mag packed lunch and we set off to visit ‘Emily’ at Falkenham
church leaving home at 1 as it clouded over as showers were forecast! Over
to Gulpher Lane and down Marsh lane for yet another pic of the delict house
and the wheat field has not been cut yet. Coming out at Kings Fleet and up
onto the Deben path with some top Suffolk skies and a good breeze coming
straight down the river. Taking the first footpath to Falkenham across the
fields with no wildlife about:( We have lunch on our favourite seat
sheltered from the breeze before taking the bridle way back to Trimley
across the onion fields. Reaching Candlet Lane Mag turns left for home
while I go right ending up at the viewing point at Felixstowe docks. Then
out onto the wooden boardwalk spotting a young wheatear as the rain starts
to fall. I get nice and wet before reaching home but still nice to be out
on the bike for 2hrs 45 mins covering over 16 miles.
